The Grounds

M’Liss and Gail have lived on the grounds for the past 22 years. We started off with a couple of acres and built a small house which much to our dismay looked a bit like a dirt farm. Over the years with lots of ingenuity and creativity as well as hard work it morphed into what it is today: paths and patios, fire pits and statuary, and herb and flower gardens. We raised our three children here and as our family grew welcomed our grandchildren. Over the years our animals have always been an important part of our family. We've  had many dogs, cats, reptiles and birds. Over the years the grounds have been used for weddings, memorial services, rites of passage celebrations as well, as fire rituals and ceremonial drumming.

Most recently as we built the Evoking Alchemy Building we were inspired to adopt more animals thus creating a working farm with two pigs, two goats and four alpacas. We have incorporated them into the treatment with many of our clients. Rumi our border collie is often the official greeter and sits in on many of our therapy sessions.

We were also inspired along with Dolores Calzaretta to create the Lexia Calzaretta meditation garden, which is adjacent to the building and serves as a quiet place of contemplation and reflection. Many of our friends, family members and clients have contributed time, energy and funds to this effort, as well as choosing to honor a loved one who has passed away. This is an ongoing process and a labor of love. We continue to welcome contributions.
